PREGNANCY WEEK 40

Still hanging in there?

Everyone deals with reaching this milestone differently.  For some reaching their due date doesn't change anything, for others it can feel like a bit of an anticlimax.  Don't worry if you are feeling a little emotional too, you are about to become a Mum - it's an emotional time.

Your body is still providing all of the nutrients your baby needs as well as antibodies needed to fight infection following birth.

Don't worry those tiny booties will have tiny feet in them before you know it!

WHAT WILL BE NEXT

It's still a waiting game

Babies are expected to arrive anytime between the 37th and 42nd week of pregnancy.  However, you may be starting to wonder what will happen if your baby doesn't arrive within that time frame.  You will be offered a date for induction which you can accept of decline.  During induction you are given a synthetic form of Oxytocin - the hormone that starts labour.  Induction can be a bit of a long process but there are things you can to to make it easier.  Take a look at Induction of Labour so that you know what it is all about.

Until then, all you can do is rest, eat well and enjoy these last few days with your partner before your little one is here and taking up all of your time and attention.
